What does it mean to centre women, girls and gender diverse people in work with men and boys for gender equality? This is one of the questions at the heart of accountability in male-engagement work.

Twice each year, we host an informal space for MenEngage members to delve into vital questions like this together. It is a space to collectively explore how the accountability principles of MenEngage Alliance come to life in our work, how they help us achieve an impact, and foster safer, more respectful organizational cultures and practices.

The Accountability Exchange is a the space to go beyond theory and share and learn about what accountability looks like in practice in the work with men and boys for gender justice.

Designed as a conversational, question-and-answer style session, this gathering offers space to gain new insights, learn about the MenEngage Accountability Framework, listen to others’ experiences, share your own, raise questions, and deepen our collective understanding.

Membership of MenEngage Alliance means committing to the Accountability Framework — which includes the Core Principles, Code of Conduct, and Accountability Standards of the global network. These form a foundation that guides our collective vision for engaging men and boys in advancing gender justice.

What to expect:

  • Space to listen to others’ experiences and share your own
  • Open discussion on how accountability contributes to a culture of prevention of harm and misconduct.
  • A chance to learn from real-life implementation of the Accountability Framework — its benefits, challenges, and relevance to your work
  • Refresh your engagement with and understanding of the MenEngage Accountability Framework and how it can be used to improve your work
