MenEngage members have long recognised that our work to create a world of gender justice, in which people of all genders can flourish, must include responding to the needs of men and boys in all their diversity. Increasingly, public narratives in many countries are framing these needs in a language of “crisis”.
These narratives are being exploited by anti-feminist forces to manufacture feelings of male victimhood in order to undermine men’s support and accountability for gender justice. How can we — as a global community coming together as MenEngage — continue to strengthen our work to respond to the needs of men and boys in all their diversity and ensure that public narratives about these needs tell the real story about the suffering caused by patriarchy and other systems of oppression?
These are the questions that we have been discussing with MenEngage members in a series of focus groups over recent weeks. Please join us for a Member Dialogue to discuss emerging findings from these focus groups and to share your experiences of and perspectives on the linked challenges of meeting needs and changing narratives.
This conversation is being hosted twice so you have different options of when to take part:
- Thursday 15th October from 9.00 – 10:30AM EST
- Wednesday 28th October (time to be confirmed)
