Men’s Development Network CLG was founded in 1997 and is headquartered at ‘Equality House’, 49 O’Connell Street, Waterford, X91 E866, with a regional office in Buckingham Street Lower, Dublin 1. The organisation’s primary objective is to advocate for transforming masculinities with the intention of creating a gender equal society, through a community development model which creates better lives for men and boys, their spouses, partners and children, friends, and communities across Ireland.
Men’s Development Network seek to provide public benefit by engaging with men and boys, with a particular focus on men and boys at risk of or experiencing marginalisation to:
- support them through Health programmes to take responsibility for their health and wellbeing and bring this to the forefront of their lives
- create spaces for personal development through our Developmental programmes and creation of new programmes which provide space for reflection and personal, social, emotional and professional development
- become allies for gender equality and ending Gender-Based Violence
- to provide client support services to male perpetrators and all victims/survivors of domestic violence
- provide a free and dedicated counselling service to men across Ireland
- to expand knowledge and education on Transforming Masculinities, which is a process of engaging men and boys in self-reflection to explore, discuss and reflect on their own attitudes, beliefs and behaviours regarding gender equality, gender conditioning and Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence.
Men’s Development Network are contract leads for 4 national programmes:
- The MEND Programme (delivering the National Choices work with perpetrators programme),
- The Male Advice Line (national freephone service for male victims of domestic abuse),
- Engage National Men’s Health Training Programme and
- White Ribbon Ireland Campaign & Capacity-Building Programme.
