Joint Statement to the 69th Commission on the Status of Women

Statement submitted by ABAAD Resource Center for Gender Equality, Let’s Breakthrough, Inc., MenEngage Global Alliance, Promundo-US, and Sonke Gender Justice Network, non-governmental organizations in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council

The statement, submitted on the occasion on the 69th Session on the Commission on the Status of Women, calls for renewed global commitment to the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA). It highlights the urgent need to address rising patriarchal backlash, systemic gender inequality, and the impact of conflict on women, girls, and LGBTQI+ communities. It emphasizes the importance of engaging men and boys in gender-transformative ways, dismantling patriarchal structures, and holding governments accountable to achieve feminist peace and justice worldwide.

We are sharing this statement to amplify the call for urgent action and accountability from governments, institutions, and civil society. At a time of global regression on gender justice, this document is a call for renewed political commitment, intersectional approaches, and collective action to realize the vision of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and ensure a just, equitable future for all.
