What is the MenEngage Learning Collaborative?
The MenEngage Learning Collaborative – or CoLab – is a global learning space of MenEngage Alliance. It is designed for members, partners, and allies working to transform patriarchal masculinities and engage men and boys for gender, social, and climate justice.
Rooted in shared learning and collective leadership, the CoLab is where the global network comes together to reflect, exchange, co-create, and build momentum around critical issues in our work.
Why the CoLab?
The CoLab was inspired by the MenEngage Ubuntu Symposium (2020 – 2021), which brought together thousands of people over seven months through in-person and virtual events. The symposium marked a turning point for the Alliance, highlighting the need for an ongoing space to deepen relationships, reflect on lessons learned, and amplify member voices.
The MenEngage CoLab is our answer to that need.
It continues in the spirit of the Ubuntu Symposium by providing:
- Online learning sessions, including member-led peer learning sessions
- A collaborative space to share knowledge and connect across regions
- Opportunities to build shared agendas and movement strategies
MenEngage CoLab spaces
The MenEngage CoLab includes the following practical spaces for connecting and learning:
Thematic webinars
MenEngage CoLab webinars bring together members with specific expertise to address a particular theme from a ‘men and masculinities’ lens. Often, these are organised by specific thematic working groups of MenEngage Alliance together with the Global Secretariat.
Peer learning sessions
The Peer Learning sessions are another webinar format for members to share their approaches, experiences and lessons learned with the wider community. They are spaces where we learn from each other’s efforts addressing patriarchal masculinities in various contexts and through different approaches all over the world. Collective learning hub
We are building a collective learning hub on working with men and boys for gender equality. It will be an online space, presented as an educational platform, to learn about all things related to working with men and boys for gender equality. Check back again soon as we roll out this new initiative.
Digital community forum
We are working to launch a new, members-only digital forum as a discussion space for learning and exchange in the work with men and boys for gender equality, women’s rights, and social justice for all.
