Samitha Sugathimala elected as Global Co-Chair
MenEngage Global Alliance is pleased to announce that Samitha Sugathimala (she/her) has been elected as its new Co-Chair. Elected by the Global Board of MenEngage, Samitha joins Bafana Khumalo (he/him) as fellow Co-Chair.
Samitha has been the coordinator of the regional network of MenEngage, MenEngage Alliance South Asia (MEASA), and regional representative to the Global Board, since July 2020. She is Director of the member organization, Foundation for Innovative Social Development, based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Samitha said:
“I am truly honored by the trust MenEngage Alliance has given to me in electing me as a Co-Chair and allowing me to serve in this position—and to contribute to achieving our shared objectives for gender justice, and co-creating accountable leadership in challenging the patriarchal political agenda.”
Samitha takes on the role following Humberto Carolo completing his term as co-chair of the Global Board. Humberto will continue to represent White Ribbon Canada on the Global Board of MenEngage Alliance.
