Global board elects new Co-Chair of MenEngage Alliance

MenEngage Alliance is pleased to announce that Dr.Shane Joseph (he/him) has been elected as its new Global Co-Chair.
Elected by the Global Board of MenEngage Alliance, Shane joins Samitha Sugathimala (she/her) as a fellow Co-Chair.
Shane currently serves as Co-Chair of the North America MenEngage Network (NAMEN), as well as the regional network’s representative to the Global Board of MenEngage Alliance.
He has been engaged with MenEngage Alliance for many years and brings more than fifteen years of experience in the social services field, having worked extensively in the not-for-profit sector, within government settings, and as a Consultant for many entities
His work has focused on policy development, mental health, child rights, prevention of gender-based violence, diversity and inclusion, and volunteer engagement, among other areas. Shane has also facilitated gender equality trainings and domestic violence interventions initiatives around the world.
Commenting on his appointment, Shane said:
“I am truly grateful for the trust and confidence that MenEngage Alliance has placed in me through this election process. I step into this role with humility, accountability, and a deep commitment to collective leadership. This responsibility is not about one person leading alone, but about how we move together as an Alliance grounded in integrity, shared vision, and the ongoing work of advancing gender justice.
“I look forward to working alongside Samitha, the Global Board, the Secretariat, and all members of the Alliance as we continue strengthening our collective efforts, including our commitment to youth leadership and engagement.”
Fellow Co-Chair, Samitha Sugathimala added: “I am excited to welcome Shane as my fellow Co-Chair, and would also like to take the opportunity to thank outgoing Co-Chair, Festus Kisa, for holding the role of Co-chair, and for all the contributions he has made.”
